INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to our Auckland Club homepage. Although serious and disciplined about our training we are pretty informal as well - we treat particpants as the mature, intelligent and good-willed persons that most people are. Feel very welcome to come along to any of our locations without invitation as appropriate below. (come ten minutes early to intro and register with your teacher)

Public Classes:
Adults, both young and older, love our more energetic TaiChi style (Chen), the authentic traditional teaching, and the long term health benefits that go with it. We also teach the self defence, martial-art aspects to those who progress beyond the beginner's level. Chen style can be adapted to your own level of fitness and agility - every person in class is a unique "work-in-progress." Class training is not about uniformity.

Subsidised Classes:
We teach a specially modified form of chen style Tai Chi for persons who need special attention (e.g. balance issues, surgery rehab, senior citizens, outpatients or anyone who feels the normal public classes are too much). These very popular classes teach short, graceful routines that maximise the many health benefits that come from regular practise of Tai Chi.

The classes have proven so effective that ACC now subsidises recognised Tai Chi teachers around New Zealand to advance their "Fall Prevention" strategy. Chen TaiChi-cise Centre runs 20 such classes weekly across the suburbs of Southern Auckland and Papakura.

Social Aspects:
All classes have a strong, informal social emphasis. If this is your "cup of tea" there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. For the younger ones there are club meals, outings, camps, workshops, overseas conventions and public demo opportunities. For our ACC classes we regularly have "Tea and Talks," picnic Tai Chi in the park during summer, discounted luncheons out at popular restaurants (80-120 persons strong), public mass demos with other clubs, demos by our younger members and more.

Self Defence against Falls

Tai Chi is proven to increase strength & balance and improve co-ordination and reaction times - key risk factors for falls in older adults. Excellent low impact rehab/recovery exercise (consult your GP first). Feel free to come along without invitation and introduce yourself to the teacher.
